Crocheted Wrist Warmers

This weekend I found some really cute wrist warmers to make in the sofa while watching television. I was looking for a easy project and something I could really use.
I am a true beginner when it comes to crocheting so I was very pleased when I found this video tutorial for these wrist warmers on Drops Design Studio's homepage. The video is really easy to follow (no sound, only visual) and you work with both the video and the free pattern at he same time. When you get the hang on the pattern routine you don't have to look so much in the pattern description and it turns out quite fun when the fingers just go with the flow :) Oh, and you can change the pattern language in the menu just below the picture!

Since I had these yarns I really wanted to use (because I love how they shine in the sunlight) the thickness of the yarns doesn't match the thickness recomended in the pattern and the final result of the hand warmers is not very graceful and smooth like the pictures in the pattern. However, I don't really mind, I think that the colors turns the roughness to look quite charming so I am proud to put them on anyway :)

This type of garment is not ideal for my own use because my fingers gets very cold easily. These wrist warmers cover basically the whole hand except the fingers so if it is a bit cold outside it is better for me to use knitted gloves. These wrist warmers will however be good to use between autumn and winter when it is not too warm but not too cold either.

Knitted Slippers with Roses

Now when the days are getting colder and we get closer to the winter it is nice to warm up cold feet in warm slippers. I found these cuties on DropsDesignStudio (click here to go to the free pattern) and now my feet can be warm all winter! These slippers are very easy to knit, basically you just need to know how to do garter stitch and decrease. I crocheted two flowers, same pattern as I used in this post, to make the slippers a bit more girly. I had both pink and purple yarn at home at the time and since I LOVE these colors it was a natural color choice :)

Happy knitting!

Crocheted flower hairband

As I posted some weeks ago, chrocheted roses are so pretty and you can use them to several purposes. For this week I chose to make a hairband :) I usually have my long hair down with just a little barrette to keep the hair away from my eyes, but sometimes I think it's getting a bit boring. I feel I want to spice up my hairstyle with some pretty accessories, and maybe I have found a new way to make experiments regarding crocheting and hairstyling. I will definately sit down with pen and sketchbook and try to find out more ideas...!

This hairband is made of two parts, one bond and one flower. The flower is the same model as I made in a previous post which you can find here
You can also find the instruction video for this flower all the way from beginning to end here
The bond is made after this instruction video.
To fix the flower on the bond I pulled the bond through  two of the loops on the backside of the flower. To secure the flower you can always sew some stitches with needle and thread.

Happy crocheting everyone! :)

Pretty Crocheted Roses

I have not crocheted anything since I was in fourth grade. This weekend I thought it would be fun to experience somthing new and I said to myself, "Hey, why don't I try to crochet something? Nothing difficult, just something small and pretty to begin with". And I did.
As I have mentioned several times by now Drops Designstudio has the most amazing website with free patterns in both knitting and crochet, and this time when I was browsing through their archive I found some pretty flowers I just had to try :) To make it even better and easier for us beginners, there is a "How to" video on the website of these flowers and you can find the video here and the pattern here. If you would like other languages for the pattern you can choose language in the menu to the left under the picture.
