Baby Body with Air-Balloon Print

Children's clothes are so small and easy to make and for me the choice of colorful and happy fabric prints is the best part of making children's clothes. This time I found a very cute cotton tricot fabric with air-balloons! I tried to look for the name and the producer of this fabric on the internet but unfortunately I didn't find anything. Maybe you know?
I still have some of this fabric left and my fabric shop around the corner has tons of other cute fabrics so I will definately make more baby garments in the future  :)

For this body I used the same Burda pattern as also I used for this baby body with apple print I made for an earlier post. In that post you will also find the type of buttons I used for this garment and they are really easy to use, you just need a hammer and you will get a great result!

Summer Jeansjacket

For the past two weeks I have been working on the greatest sewing project of this year so far for me, and I am now ready to show you the result!
I love jeans jackets but I have never found anyone anywere that fit my body. I am slim and tall and my arms are quite long. Either the waist is good but then the sleeve length is too short, or I have to go up a size to make the sleeves fit but then the waist is too wide. I have been very tired of these issues for years and this spring I decided to make a jacket myself to hopefully make it fit for all parts of my upper body.

I used a Burda jacket pattern from the latest BurdaStyle magazine but because I am who I am, a girl who always wants to make changes to make the garment fit "my style" I changed some things along the way.
For the pockets I cut out the pattern pieces as the original but I only used one piece of every pocket and kept the rounded shape on the sides.

Because the Swedish summer is not very warm I wanted a lining for this jacket to make it a bit more resistent to cold weather. I used the same fabric I used to make this cotton summer dress last year and I think the pattern of this fabric fits well with the blue jeans fabric.

I made this jacket in size 36 but if I cold do one change I would change it to a size 38, at least in the area around the shoulders and maybe in the waist because it feels a little tight in those areas when I have a sweatshirt or a hoodie under it.

I sew the lining into the jacket by hand because it was quite hard to do it with the sewing machine. It took a good while to finish it and my fingers were sore but it turned out nice and I am happy :)

Green Short Sleeve Blouse

I found a lovely fabric last week, a green one with tulips called "Tender Tulips" from Soft Cactus. It is a really happy pattern that makes me think of spring and summer and because it is so nice I thought long and hard what kind of pattern I would use to make the best out of it. I thought of a skirt at first but then it might be nice with a blouse... Finally I decided to make a blouse and I found a pretty blouse pattern in Burda Style 5/2014. The model is quite straight in the waist area and it has some wrinkles on both right and left chest and on the back. It is a cute model and I will definitely use this pattern again! :)
As usual I started to follow the pattern instructions step by step but when I got to the neckline I had trouble understanding the instructions. I read it over and over again (maybe I had a bad day or maybe I was just tired) so I gave up and skipped the instructions and did my own thing haha! I think it turned up pretty well and I actually think it is my best work of sewing I have ever made! Hurray!

Babybody with Apple Print

As I have mentioned before I think it is fun to make baby clothes because they are small and thereby easy and fast to sew and knit. Last week I was strolling about in a fabric store called Ohlssons Tyger in my hometown and when I walked by the children's tricot department I couldn't help myself...! The fabrics were so colorful and cute so I just had to buy some. When I got home I found a cute little baby body pattern in one of my Burda Style magazines and in five hours I made this cutie!
The fabric I used for this baby body is a tricot fabric called "Applelicious" from Poppy (this link is to the only online shop I could find who had this fabric, you can change language in the bottom of the homepage)

It does not take long to finish this kind of  garment and I did not use any special tools to get a good result. This type of body only contains four pieces and the only things you should remember is to first use a narrow zigzag stich to prepare all the cut fabric edges and then use straight stitches to make the nice finish. You can also use overlock but I think zigzag stitches is just as good.

I thought the buttons Prym 10 mm Jersey would be difficult to manage but in the package I got a plastic stick which allowed me to get a nice look just by using a hammer!

So, my point is that it really is easy and you just need ordinary sewing knowledge to make this kind of garment, so if you are inspired just go a head and buy a pattern and some cute fabric and get started!

Cotton Summer Dress

Last week Burda Style magazine came in through the mail slot and landed on my doormat. I had other things to do at the time but after laying there beside me on the table in about an hour I couldn't resist it's tempting shiny plastic cover ready to be torn open (no nice and neat opening with scissors here!). Oh, and then the smell... my my, the smell of new magazine filled my nose as I open the centerfold, buried my nose and inhaled. Haha I have ever since I can remember enjoyed the smell of new magazines, I guess it is the excitement of the content, all the shiny pictures and sense the smell of "new" - I think I will never get tired of it.

I had just ended a sewing project, the pink denim jacket I posted about two weeks ago, and I felt like starting something new for the summer vacation. I found a cute short halterneck dress in the magazine, but because I have the idea that I don't fit very good in halterneck since I have quite broad shoulders, I kept the skirt part and used the upper part from an other dress instead.

I immediately fell for the fabric, it gives a little sense of "baking cookies in a rural kitchen with the afternoon sun shining in through the curtains" which I like, and it gets complete with the large pockets at front and the flounce hem. I also like the heart shaped neck lining - it is romantic and flattering without being too deep showing everything ;)
The skirt part is lined with a white thin fabric to give it a little extra stiffness and thickness. The upper part is not lined. 

Pink Party Dress

As I wrote in my previous post, this Saturday I attended my long time friend Maria's wedding. And what a wonderful day it was! She was so lovely in her dress, make-up and hairstyle and the wedding reception was very beautifully arranged by our common friend Emelie who was toast-madame. They had arranged a lot of delicious food and fun entertainment during the dinner.

I wore my self-made glittery little pink dress and the flower decorated diadem I showed you guys in previous post :) The satin shoes is the same I wore at my own wedding last year - wonderful when you get to use so pretty things more than once :)

For this dress I mixed two patterns from Burda Style 12/2013, see the sketches for these two models below.

 My pink dress is made by these two patterns. 

The skirt section  of my dress is same as model 130 and the top section of my dress is same as model 122.
